And he came to visit us in Australia, and I was just, I was only 8, but I was ab--, absolutely infatuated with what he was doing and asked him all these questions. [00:35:41] Matthew Christopher: Yeah, and we definitely um, we made sure that through this process, we made sure we took care of her, you know what I mean. ABC News reported that Macchiarini has never spoken publicly about his relationship with Benita. related to AARP volunteering. [00:19:01] Bob: It's just making it harder for every man in the world. He was dying and Macchiarini became someone Alexander could lean on. So just under two months before the wedding, and it was just difficult. And we rode for probably 30, 45 minutes until I sort of found a spot that I thought was appropriate, and I got off the bike and I went to the water. But Bo at the time had no idea who it was. I was like, 'What is happening to Benita,'" Alexander's friend, Marian Fontana, said. But Macchiarini showered her in flowers and jewelry. We had 300+ people coming from all over the world. [00:22:38] Bob: What Benita doesn't know at the time, she couldn't have known, is that Hannah's death also sparks the interest of the European journalist named Bo Lindquist, a Swedish filmmaker, he's already working on a documentary film about Paolo, but it isn't designed with a happy ending in mind. And so I thought, okay, maybe its not as crazy as it, as it sounds. I mean my, I mean my jaw was on the floor. It does make it difficult sometimes, because you, some stories are so heavy and so difficult, and I would sometimes, it would take me weeks sometimes to sort of shake a story, and people would sit with me, and their stories would sit with me for a long, long time. In mid-2013, they became a couple and in December that year they became pre-engaged as Macchiarini, who lived in Barcelona, Spain, said he was still legally married with two children but had been separated for a long time and was filing for divorce.
